DEALERS
The backbone of the American-V distribution network before we went
into the Newstrade, they are still a good source of magazines, and
some carry a selection of back issues.
Dealer
enquiries are always welcome, and we supply American-V on a sale-or-return
basis to anyone interested in stocking it: if you want to pick the
magazine up from your local authorised dealer or independent, tell
them to ring Natalie on 01778 392404. You get your magazine regularly
and an excuse to drop in every other month; they get to see a chance
to promote themselves, and to make sure no-one leaves empty-handed.
WH SMITHS
Since the end of April 2008 we've had an even better deal out
of WH Smiths than previously and are now in 50% more stores - stores
that do especially well with motorcycle titles (listed right). Sadly,
that was too late for AmV28 because the newstrade system is triggered
by publication dates, but AmV29 with the XR1200 on the cover will
be in all of the stores listed to the right - or at least that's
what they've told us.
If
you don't see it on the shelves on these stores please ask an assistant,
and don't take a cursory "don't stock it" for an answer,
because it has been known for some staff to take the easy route
rather than actually checking. "Sold out" is a more acceptable
response, but by asking for it you improve your chance for next
time,
because they can increase their stock level for the next issue.
INDEPENDENT
NEWSAGENTS:
Regrettably,
we haven't got a listing for the independent sector stockists because
no such database exists - or not that we're party to. If you let
any newsagent know that you want to get American-V
from them, any newsagent will be able to get it from
their wholesaler: just print out the newsgent order form (click
on image above) and give it to them, and they'll be able to do the
rest.
FRANCHISED
FUEL STATIONS / SUPERMARKETS
There are too many magazines these days and too little shelf space.
The only we we can get into that sector is to pay them to stock
the magazine in the first place, as well as give them their cut
from the cover price: it is very irritating, but it's all about
profit. They know exactly how much profit they can make per square
foot of shelf space and if that doesn't come from retail sales it
has to come from the publisher: it's a game that few independents
can afford to play unless they were already stock items before the
new rules came into play.
